This year's Journey of Hope, presented by the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Handmaid Province Advisory Board, was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Knowlton Mansion in Philadelphia.
A sell-out crowd was in attendance for the event, which was co-chaired by Mary Mealey and Mary Trautwein Breslin, Handmaid Province Advisory Board members. Noting that this year’s special evening honored the “fifty year journeys” of Sr. Kathleen Helbig, Sr. Maureen Gillespie, and Sr. Julia Walsh, they welcomed the honorees and their families with heartfelt sentiment. They also introduced the Handmaids and gave an overview of the USA Province with its remarkable history and its hope for the future.
Sharing a few facts about the Handmaids and their efforts, they explained that the annual Journey of Hope event is intended for friends and supporters to get to know more about the Handmaids and their ministries.
Proceeds from the 2012 event will benefit the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart, USA Province, including the senior sisters, formation program, and their ministries.
Plans for the Fourth Annual Journey of Hope Celebration are underway, so please stay tuned. Those wanting to become involved in the planning of the 2013 event are asked to contact Toni Romano in the US Handmaid Province Development office.
